This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like to read a book and your were so fascinated that you couldn't put it down? My students have not yet discovered that books can take you places that only your imagination can!

My 6th grade students are very enthusiastic about reading and learning new things.

They are particularly fascinated by fiction and realistic fiction stories. My students attend a Title 1 school where most student receive a free lunch and come from a disadvantaged socio-economic background.

My Project

Having these class sets of "The Lion, The WIth and the Wardrobe" and "Esperanza Rising" will help my students become more proficient readers and writers. They will increase their love of reading. In addition, they will increase their vocabulary skills and learn how to analyze literature. My students will learn that reading not only makes you learn but it also takes you places that you never imagined!

In times of budget cuts, schools have suffered tremendous cuts and unfortunately it has tapped into resources such as books.

Having these resources will help supplement the texts that we have and help students become more enthusiastic about reading. It would be great for every student to have his or her own copy so they can use it in class or take it home to read on their own. Books have always been a great tool for learning. The reward, priceless!
