My Students

In a thriving Title I school of about 700 students, I teach all subjects to second graders who range from high achieving to limited English (ELL) students. We are also privileged to serve military families and children of Barksdale Air Force Base Airmen. Each student helps diversify our population, bringing in knowledge and experience of various cultures and traditions. Being a Title I school means that we have a majority of low income students who need extra everything!

No matter the academic or ability level, all of my students have different learning styles that I strive to meet every day.

Regardless of where our students come from, they deserve to be successful. Our school is their home and our tight-knit community works closely together to see that all students have the chance and the materials to grow.

Our students are amazing! They dream and think and question, always wondering about the world around them. They are the scientists, inventors, authors, artists, mathematicians, and visionaries of tomorrow. By fostering an environment of collaboration, community, healthy competition, and risk-taking, we are building a future that will make us proud.

My Project

Providing a classroom library will support all students' learning and will be a key role in providing access to books and promoting literacy. Having a classroom library will increase student motivation, engagement, achievement, and will support students to become critical thinkers, analytical readers, and informed scholars.

This classroom library will enhance students' comprehension, development of student vocabulary, and develop a problem-solving attitude among student collaboration.

Having a classroom library will also provide opportunities for independent reading and curricular extensions. This much-needed classroom library will be a celebration of literacy in our classroom community.
