My Students

Our school is a Leader in Me Lighthouse School. We teach the 8 Habits of Happy Kids and strive to implement these into our daily routines both at school and home. We seek to work with a growth mindset and understand the "power of yet."

My homeroom consists of 24 students with 24 unique personalities and interests.

I am privileged to teach students from a wide range of social, academic, economic and ethnic backgrounds and hope that this project will help to make my classroom more accessible for them all!

My Project

As a new fifth grade teacher, I am seeking to build my classroom library with age and interest appropriate books that will help to grow my students as readers.

In order to keep my students engaged I need to provide them with a variety of books to peak their interest.

I have chosen books that will appeal to both boys and girls as well as reluctant readers. Graphic novels are entertaining and engaging while hooking the reader for the remainder of the book and often the series. My goal is to use these books in order to reach those students who have not yet found their passion for reading.
