Fluency can be a very challenging thing to teach students. The more they hear proper reading, the easier it will become. They need access to literacy through technology so they can have access to fluent reading the way that they learn.
I work at a Title 1 school in a very diverse area, where some children at other schools even as close as two miles away have a lot, but many of my students do not.
My students are so engaged by technology. We have access to many online reading databases to help their learning, but not the proper technology to run them in the classroom.
My Project
My students need four tablets, four protector cases, and four headphone sets for a listening center. I reach students on a regular basis through daily guided reading, but there is only one of me and many of them. The requested items will give my students access to be able to listen to reading. They will be able to practice their own fluency and other literacy skills at a station during our language arts block.
By donating to this project, you are investing in the best part of our future, children.
Their lives both now and in the future are going to heavily lean on both technology and the ability to read. By providing them with resources for both in the classroom daily, we are showing them how to utilize available resources.
