Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The kids at my school have taken over my heart. Many of them are so eager to learn and want to do their best. They push themselves everyday. Their families have endured many hardships, and the students know how to improve their own future by getting a great education.

They lead me in their education and show me which paths they need to take.

This coming school year, I plan to have at least 30 thoughtful, curious, talented, adorable nine year olds in my classroom. Many of them know all too well the trials and tribulations of growing up in poverty of discrimination, of systemic, structural inequity, and of trauma. They would be ecstatic to have more flexible seating options in our class.

Despite their young age, many have a bright outlook on life. As this is my third year of teaching, I hope and plan to bring a fun, safe, loving classroom experience with my students in order have them eager to learn and come to school.

My Project

My students are need of books in the classroom, at different levels. Many of my students are at various grade levels, ranging from kindergarten to fifth grade, so it is difficult to give a student a book at their instructional level since my library as a limited supply of lower level books.

We need a classroom library that has a variety of books with a wide range of levels that will help my students become strong, independent readers!

Students need a book that is a "just right" so that it pushes them and yet, still allows them to grow as readers. Students need numerous opportunities to read books at school! By having these books in the classroom, they will be able to select a book at their instructional reading level that will help them grow as readers!!
