This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
8:00 am comes fast for a kindergarten student. 4:00 pm seems like forever away. A typical day in room K-1 consists of writing, drawing, laughing, crying, routines, numbers, lunch, recess, music, science, and of course, READING! Reading is the most favorite part of the day, except for lunch of course!
My classroom consists of 13 incredible, imaginative, and outspoken boys and girls.
Each child is unique in their very own way. My students enjoy sharing their weekend experiences and give hugs like big teddy bears! Our school is located in a low-income city but is very fortunate to be run by amazing staff. We enjoy the friendliness of the parents and strive each day to make our school better than it has ever been.
My Project
Receiving new books would help our classroom create a leveled library where students could pick books to read based on their level. When students master one level, the leveled library will guide the students to another level where reading becomes more intense, but still interesting and enjoyable. The students will have the opportunity to take the books home and read them to their parent or guardian to show off how amazing their reading skills are. Once a book is returned, the students can take another book home to enjoy. The ultimate goal is to get the students on a first-grade level or higher by the middle of June!
Donations to my classroom will make a drastic difference by introducing books that have an array of topics or themes.
Each book will transform the student to a new world where they can learn and enjoy new words, details, and characters. The books will change the students lives for the better by them taking responsibility in returning the books they take home in good condition. They will be responsible for reading and logging the books each night at home or in the classroom.
