This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

This past year, after 27 years, I was moved from teaching art to kindergarten and first grader students to teaching art to third through fifth graders. I have around 500 kids and was given $250 in November to purchase all my art supplies. This did not accommodate the needs of my growing artists.

Even though it was my first time teaching the older elementary students, they received the highest recognition in our district for their rodeo art contest entries.

I realized then that my students have a desire to grow and enhance their abilities. However, we need better supplies like colored pencils, crayons, and paint in order to create more advanced projects.
