Have you ever listened to a tape or CD and really learned something? My students need to be able to access the audio world of learning. They can focus better with personal audio devices.
I have a fantastic class of second graders.
They are avid learners who have developed a love for Hooked on Phonics. However all our audio equipment can't deliver the material to more than one child at a time. They are struggling learners in a high poverty Title one school. They beg me to put them on the programs but our machines only allow one person at a level. My students' levels are from nonreaders to third and fourth grade readers. In order to meet all their needs,I got a donation of Hooked on Phonics kits for different grade levels. They all have different needs so I can't just plug them in at one level. I want all of them to learn the skills they need. Some of the children are special education students with speech problems and learning disabilities. Others are students who missed learning skills due to difficulties beyond their control. All these children deserve to learn. Help me while they are so interested and eager.
My Project
I set up a schedule for them to share the materials at different times during the day but our old outdated machines could not handled the demand and bit the dust. We need something to let more children access the resources at one time. We need machines that will work and allow each child the privacy they need to listen and learn at their own pace.
The children will be able to work at their levels to gain the skills they missed or didn't acquire in previous grades. We will also use the machines for our listening center to allow more children to hear a wider variety of stories.
You can help them hear the words they are seeking.
You can make a difference in these children's lives by helping us get the listening devices we need to individualize our learning. Open your ears and hear our plea and open your hearts and help us. Thank you.
