I teach a group of 26 fourth graders. I have been their teacher since first grade when we were learning via zoom classes together. I have requested owl pellets, an owl pellet mat and owl food chain posters to teach a science class about owls, what they eat, how they digest their food and the resulting pellets. A pellet dissection is like an Easter egg hunt. It is so exciting to find the tiny bones that make up a mouse, shrew, or vole. Because of covid, our hands on science learning has been stunted, we have had few chances for hands on discovery learning. Owl pellet dissection will allow for hands-on discovery science learning.
