Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are very talented 25 young individuals who come from a low socioeconomic section in Florida. I have ESE, ESOL and autistic immigrant students. My students face many challenges inside school to succeed and do their best, and they struggle outside of school to not allow the environment that they live in to stop them from achieving their dreams. We are a Title I school with 90% of the students receiving free lunch at school. My students strive to become role models and leaders for their community.

My Project

We were very fortunate to get funding but now we need to replenish the snacks for my students to take home. The Hurricane Irma hit my students very hard. Many of my students are still staying at shelters or in a motel. My students do not have enough food to eat at home. My students are lucky to have free breakfast and lunch when they are at school, but during the weekend they do not have much to eat or drink. My students need a healthy snack. My students need healthy snacks to take home for the weekend. A healthy snack for the weekend will help my students from being hungry. Simple snacks like the Nongshim Bowl Noodle Soup, Chef Boyardee, and Frito Lay Variety Pack are some healthy snacks that will help brighten my students day. Some of my students are still in shelters and need fresh water to drink or put in their noodles. It would be nice to give my students spring water for the weekend. My students are always eager to learn and work hard every day. By having a simple healthy snack, my students can be more engaged in class work and you will help us make a difference in their future.
