My Project

My students need these granola bars and snacks to help them not worry about being hungry during class. Even after lunch our kids are coming to class hungry. They receive free breakfast and lunch every day at school, but many are still hungry making it hard for them to focus in their classes. My special education students have enough struggles to deal with, being hungry should not be an issue.

By offering them chewy granola bars, fruit bars, and other healthy snacks with no questions asked, we can help make sure that being hungry is not an issue for distraction.

I started this last year, and while it is hard to keep it going, I have seen over and over again how important it is to have these on hand. Many kids grab one each time I have them. Some just grab it when they need an extra pick me up. Still others will come asking if they can have a bar when not in class because they know I have them and for whatever reason maybe they missed lunch or breakfast and just need something to calm their stomachs.
