My Students
I am a kindergarten teacher from New Orleans, Louisiana who has relocated to a Houston school district, which is also a Title I school district where 60% of my students are from low socioeconomic homes. Our student population is ethnically and culturally diverse and about 72% of my students are English Language Learners..
My students face many challenges from a lack of supplies to a lack of home support.
Despite these challenges, they are always striving to do their very best to learn.
Each day, I make every effort to meet their needs in anyway that I possibly can. By making sure they have what they need to be academically successful, safe, healthy, and secure.
My Project
My students need a variety of snacks such as Cheez-Its, cheese crackers, animal crackers and beef jerky to keep them energized for learning all day long! These snacks would allow our students to have enough energy to keep on learning throughout the day and grow their brains! If we can make sure they get a snack, they will be able to better focus and build the fundamental knowledge necessary for them to go onto the next grade and continue to be successful throughout school.
This project is important because our students have a very long day and need some different yummy snacks to help them stay engaged in learning.
Most of my families are not fortunate enough to be able to provide snacks for their students because most of our families are low-income based families. With your help, together, we can make sure that all students are able to have a snack, stay focused and continue on the path to becoming life long learners.
