Food for Thought: providing protein based and healthy snacks

Help me give my students food and water when they come to school hungry and have missed breakfast or are unable to eat the school lunch due to having lactose intolerance that is not accounted for.

My Project

While working at a Title I school (the #1 ranked Title 1 School in the District, might I add, according to the 2023 spring test scores) I have come to learn that, while our scholars have been able to accel in the classroom, it is despite not having all their basic needs met. I strive to provide items in our Counseling office to meet those needs such as sanitary products, extra school uniforms, bandages, and love/care they may need, but oftentimes I am lacking in the most basic necessities: food and water.

By helping to fund this project, you will be providing scholars with healthy, protien-packed grab-and-go food options for when they (A) miss breakfast, (B) cannot eat the lunch due to lactose intolerance that has yet to be considered by our food service providers, or (C) need an extra boost because the amount they are served is simply not enough for rapidly growing adolescents.

School should be a place where children and adolescents of all ages can go to have all their needs not only met, but overfilled. That is why, as a counselor, I do everything I can to fill the gaps and make items available that scholars may otherwise be unable to reach without us.

Please help me achieve this goal so we can stock our pantry with snacks and water for the first portion of the school year and get our scholars started on the right foot, energized, and excited for what is to come this school year.
