"Tell me and I'll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I'll understand."
Students learn best when they are engaged in a meaningful, hands-on activity. For our upcoming Ecosystems unit, I would like to make the learning memorable by giving the students a hands-on, engaging lab activity.
We are a fairly new Charter School located in New York.
We are classified as a Title One School. The students are from diverse backgrounds. In addition, all students are educated at our school, including those living with emotional challenges as well as those with learning disabilities.
My Project
My students need owl pellets, dissection sticks and magnifying lenses for our ecosystem exploration. By utilizing owl pellets in my sixth-grade science classes, I would like to bring the students' world to them, inside the classroom. The students will understand predator-prey relationships in an engaging format, which will make their learning permanent.
Donations to this project will make science enjoyable and meaningful.
My goal is to maintain an interest in the subject so that the students will go on to the higher grades in science with a thirst for more knowledge and explorations in science.
