This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I have 16 amazing second graders. My students come from different social and economic backgrounds. All my students are able to receive free lunch and free breakfast. Many of my students receive food backpacks over the weekend. I teach at an at-risk school in Henderson, Nevada. My students come to school excited to learn each day despite their challenges that they face. I look forward each day to their smiles when they walk in the room and are ready to learn new things.
My Project
Often students are sitting at their desks for too long and they get bored and get off task. Folding lap desks for my student's Chromebooks will allow my students to sit on the floor when they need a change to help their learning.
These folding lap desks will allow me to give struggling students a way to move around the room which will help them to focus.
My students often ask me to sit on the floor with their laptops. Without these folding lap desks I am unable to allow them to due to the risk of damaging the Chromebooks. I am very excited that they will now be able to move around and sit where needed.
