This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Before you walk into my school, you may see on paper that we are a Title 1 school with a majority of students receiving free or reduced lunch with limited resources for our students. However, what you will see in person is a dynamic group of young, driven leaders, who through "The Leader in Me" Process are making their mark in our world. We are a Lighthouse Leader in Me/Magnet Fine Arts school, which has helped transform all of our students into global thinkers who believe they have a chance in life. We also went through Hurricane Harvey and many families were displaced and left with nothing.
My Project
Students at my school have had an extremely different start to a school year. They started school two weeks late because of Hurricane Harvey. I still have students displaced to this day.
My students need to be able to focus on academics and leadership to help them move on from the difficult start after persevering through the difficulties of the beginning of their fourth grade year.
These wobble chairs have proven to help students focus after sitting for long periods of time. I have four already and EVERY student wishes everyday it was their turn to use them. A few students prefer the one plastic chair I have and I would like to use them for my small group table.
