My Students
My students are from all over Maryland and come to SEED to board during the week to get the best and safest education away from distractions and daily struggles. We provide a tuition-free public college preparatory education from grades 6-12 and provide support through college also. Our kids are resilient and strong, persevering through the pandemic online and in person. Building relationships with parents and students is key to our student success and most students consider us bonus parents. My kid’s are incredible and I love them as I love my own children!
My Project
The students I work closely with come into my workspace for support, encouragement, academic and emotional assistance. Sometimes it is as simple as providing a snack or some candy that increases focusing, like peppermints. Sometimes it’s a fidget to hold in their hand (binder clips work great for this discreet support). Sometimes it’s away to organize information and unpack their learning into manageable chunks. We use a ton of Post-It Notes every day in the classroom as a way to immediately reflect, add one’s own ideas to group thinking and a confidence builder without putting their name out there. These tools make the biggest difference some days. Please help me fund this project which typically comes out of my own pocket!
