Help me give my students soft bean bag chair, a weighted sensory pillow, and some bouncy bands to help them focus and learn!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Meyers's classroom raised $346

My Students
Our classroom is an inclusive one, which means some of the students are high-performing general education students while others are overcoming various challenges as special education students. Some of these challenges include autism, speech and language impairments, and visual impairments.
It's wonderful to see the students in our class all accept each other and learn from one another despite their differences.
Besides their learning differences, our school's population is also very diverse. Located in the heart of Queens, NY we have many immigrant students who have recently moved to America. On the other hand, we also have many students whose parents and grandparents were raised right in Queens and even attended our school!
My Project
Not all students learn the same, nor do they have the same sensory needs. By creating a sensory-friendly classroom, we are setting the culture of our classroom to be one of inclusion and acceptance, no matter what a student's needs may be.
Using sensory tools can provide a more focused, content, and alert student.
The bean bag chairs, weighted pillow, and bouncy bands will make such a difference in our students' learning. For some students, remaining focused and seated for such a large portion of the day is an exhausting task! These tools will allow students to decide what they need and when they need it. Having a variety of sensory tools will make it easier for some students to participate, interact, and engage during classroom lessons.
