This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As every teacher should believe, I have the best students on this planet! Despite the obstacles in their lives, they come to school ready to learn and to be taught in fun, and engaging ways! My students are from a low-income area. The students in my classroom have special needs (SPED) and/or are speakers of other languages (ESOL population). We are a school that is borderline Title 1, and over 60% of our school population qualifies to receive FARMS services for free and reduced meals.

All of my students do not have the most positive or supportive life at home, so I feel that it is extremely important to provide them with as many experiences, resources, and opportunities as I possibly can while they are in my classroom.

We are living in a very diverse world and we would be naive to believe that we can continue teaching the same way that we have been over the years! Our students have very unique needs and it is our job to prepare all of our children for the endless opportunities available to them! Our children are our FUTURE! Why not directly invest in them?

My Project

The fidget bands and balance discs will help my students with special needs focus during instruction, by allowing them to move their bodies without distracting others around them. Adding these resources to our classroom will prove beneficial for all of the students in my class by creating a less distracting and focused environment. The geo boards and Magformers will be used in math instruction to teach 2-Dimensional and 3-Dimensional shapes! Lastly, the answer buzzers will prove useful in many group activities and games like Jeopardy, so that it is easy to tell which group came up with the answer first. The kids will also be even more excited and engaged when they are able to use actual buzzers to show that they know the answer!
