My Project
Have you ever tried reading a book in the middle of a circus? That’s what it can feel like for many of my middle school students trying to focus in a busy, shared classroom. With constant movement, chatter, and visual distractions, it's difficult for students to truly immerse themselves in reading—and even harder for struggling readers or those with attention challenges to stay engaged.
In the midst of the three-ring circus -- I mean, middle school classroom -- these study carrel desks could make a world of difference.
These simple structures create quiet, semi-private workspaces that help minimize distractions and allow students to focus deeply on their reading. For students working on comprehension, fluency, and stamina, this kind of focused workspace can turn a chaotic circus into cozy reading nook.
Our classroom serves a diverse group of learners, including students with ADHD, learning differences, and those who simply need a calm corner to concentrate. Study carrels will not only improve individual focus but also foster independence and a stronger sense of ownership over their learning.
By funding this project, you’ll be helping to turn our reading classroom into a space where students can escape the chaos and dive into books with confidence, calm, and curiosity. Thank you for supporting our readers as they grow.
