My Project
Getting these items would mean the world to my students. This is my first year at the school, and I unfortunately do not have a great deal of materials for the classroom as far as manipulative or crafts. The school is not well off and I spent a great deal of my own funds to get the students items like chair pockets, carpet, etc. I want them to be able to experience learning in a creative way, and these items would go a long way to giving them that full experience.
Many of the students in my classroom are ELL students, so we do a great deal of our learning through using visuals in the classroom.
I would use the foam (both the soap and shaper foam) for our math literacy lessons. When we are learning about letters and numbers, the students would be able to create the letters/numbers using the foam. I want their learning to be fun, so incorporating the foam into the lesson would be absolutely fantastic and really get the students involved as far as learning how they could tell a story using those materials.
The manipulative library would also be a fantastic station for the classroom. I want the room to have different stations that the students can learn from when it comes to the different areas of learning in Early Childhood Education. I would love to add a literacy, math, science, writing, and manipulative area to my classroom, I just need the materials. My classroom has somewhat of a dramatic/kitchen area, but there are no pretend foods, so the students would love to have that.
I have also been providing snacks for my students because some families don't have the resources, so the snacks would be lovely.
