Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

This year is the thirds year our school offers STEM as a class and students are always excited to design, build, collaborate and create things. I teach in a low-income Chicago school with almost 100% Hispanic population. I have been teaching at my school for 6 years and it has been all throughout my teaching career.

My students are very excited about anything that we learn.

Whenever we add learn new content or review things we have covered, they are so creative and think of amazing new inventions. I see about 700 students every week and all of them are so innovative and just eager to learn and do new things.

My Project

Students across K-8th grade have been learning how to program using different languages. This year our big focus is using Swift programming language. Students in K-5 are using block based coding, however still using the Swift programming language with Tynker.

Students will get to experience the actual code they write come to life.

They will see how what they have been learning can be applied and what impact in can have. Learning a programming language is just like learning Spanish, or English in this 21st Century Learning. By being able to have these Drones, students will get really be prepared and see that the possibilities are endless.
