My students need a variety of high-interest books such as the Harry Potter series, Babymouse series, Stargirl, and Esperanza Rising, to name a few to help improve their reading levels.

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Most educators feel their classroom of students are the best and greatest. Although, I can't argue with their opinions, I happen to think that I have the best and greatest students on this planet. There isn't a day that I don't look forward to seeing their faces and seeing them develop in knowledge and wisdom before my eyes. I may be their teacher but they teach me so many lessons each day as well. Last school year I had the honor of being my students third grade literacy teacher. For the 2016-2017 school year I was granted the gift of being their teacher again.
My students attend a Title One school located in the South Bronx in which 30% live in shelters.
Despite the obstacles they face on a daily basis, they are always eager to learn and never give up hope. As their teacher, I buy the majority of the materials they need to help them achieve their academic goals out of my own pocket, because I want to provide them with the opportunities to learn and experience things they never imagined. I want to instill the joy that learning can bring regardless of the challenges within their own life.
My Project
The materials I am requesting are a variety of high-interest books and well known children novels for my students. Being that I am moving to the next grade with my students, many of the books within our classroom library have been already read by them numerous times. With the expectations of having higher reading levels for the approaching school year they will need books written by authors that most of them are already familiar with and new books in which they will discover the adventures that lay within their pages. By donating you are not only helping to rebuild my classroom library you are also helping the development of building and growing my students reading skills and levels. More books in our classroom will provide greater opportunities for my students to borrow books to read at home.
Your donations will help my students have a well-stocked classroom library, with a variety of well-known authors and novels they can choose from for the entire school year.
Increasing the number of books within our classroom will give my students the chance to feel successful at reading independently. I really hope you decide to donate. As my students' love of reading grows, so will their reading muscles, along with their love of learning; which is priceless! Every dollar counts!
