Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students all fall in different ranges of the autism spectrum. They all do and react to things differently, including learning. Some students need extra visual activities while others need some type of sensory stimulation during a lesson, like music. About 3 students can communicate verbally while the rest of the students need picture cards or communication devices to help them communicate. All the materials provided will effectively meet each and every student's individual needs. Parents travel from other counties to receive the proper education for their child. My students are special to me because I’ve had them when they started kindergarten and once again now that they are in 4th grade. I’ve seen each ones individual progress.
My Project
Flying high is the name of my project. I named my project flying high because I truly believe my children are capable of achieving so much more than society believes they can because of their disability. All of the children in my class are on the autism spectrum. I've been working in this field for about 13 years and believe my kids are one of a kind. Everyday its a learning experience with them. Words can't explain the feeling of satisfaction you feel when you see one of your student master a goal. All of the items I’ve requested are materials that will help them in different activities that include sensory, mathematics, social motor skills. Thank you for your time.
