Flying High for Experiential Education & the Great Outdoors

My students need 12 plane tickets to fly to Arizona for our river trip.

My Students

Have you ever been camping? Have you ever floated down a river in an environment you've never been to? This is the experience we are going to create for our students as we paddle down the San Juan River in Utah, 2,000 miles from home.

These students have grown up in an urban environment.

Many of them have never slept in a tent, met students from out west, or been in a boat. None of them can afford the full cost of this trip and by using DonorsChoose.org to fund the plane tickets, we will be able to afford the trip.

My Project

By being able to fly to Arizona, the students will gain the experience of a life time. They will see the Grand Canyon and float down a river with students from Arizona. They will learn to cook meals for the group, go hiking on rough terrain, and research educational projects about the desert environment. They will learn to be open and flexible to new experiences as every day they will do something they've never done before.

This project will broaden the horizons of these students.

Many of them might think about going to college further from home or taking trips they might never have taken before. They will become connected to a group of youth in Arizona that will open their eyes to a different type of diversity that is not in the city. All of them were ecstatic when they were chosen for this trip and it will mean a lot to them to have your support.
