Help me give my students the materials needed to help our drone project get off the ground. We need filament for our 3d printer which allows us to create the objects needed to secure our camera to drone.
What I love about my kids the most is the desire to learn all there is about technology. I currently teach classes in computer programming, robotics, and web design. We also have a competitive Robotics Club that competes in the FIRST competition. Lastly we have drone team that is learning how to fly BIG drones, not with controllers, but through the computer with waypoints.
Despite being from a small farming community located in rural Wyoming, my students love the challenge of using technology in class and in the community.
Our goal is to take what we learn in class and use it outside of the classroom. However, we are limited in funds and availability of technology. We plan on using our drones to help farmers and ranchers in the area. We hope to be able to help farmers with watering and weeds and ranchers with location of stock.
My Project
The 3D filament requested will enable students to engineer and build 3D parts that will be added to our drone in order to attach items to it. One of those items will be a camera with infrared capabilities.
By donating to this project, students will be able to fly the drone over beet piles and check for hot spots which causes the beets to rot.
Doing this enables beet farmers to quickly take care of the problem and saving more beets from rotting. Our drone will need parts that will need to be made by a 3D printer. One such piece will be a phone/camera holder that can be attached to the drone. Students will also be improving/replacing some of the foam pieces of the drone with 3D designed parts.
