My Students

Our elementary students come from a rural area in the east central part of the state. We are a Title I school.

We need to encourage a love of learning and motivate students to persevere and work together with their peers.

When students are engaged and they are interested, that's where learning takes place.

All students deserve a chance to have a positive experience and success at school. I want to provide a classroom where students enter the classroom and right away are able to engage and interact with their peers, while learning at the same time.

My Project

When many of us were in elementary school, and even high school math, we were able to solve mathematical problems using standard algorithms, "up and down". However, what we didn't know back then, was the WHY - how the math worked.

Students today are learning math in a new way - a way that allows them to develop deep number sense and notice relationships and patterns among numbers.

They are noticing the beauty of mathematics.

The Daily Math Fluency Kit is designed to help students develop their foundational math skills everyday. We will use this in addition to our current math curriculum. With the Fluency Kits, students will be able to build upon this skills learned in 4th grade.
