My Students

Being able to hear great stories that you just can't get away from is something everyone should get to experience. A new listening center would provide my students with the opportunity to do just that on a daily basis.

I have 25 incredible second graders in my classroom.

It amazes me how caring and compassionate they are. These students come from a variety of homes and backgrounds yet all get along very well. They see beyond their differences each and every day and include everyone they can in the activities they do. They set a great example of what friendship should look like.

My Project

A new listening center would greatly impact my students. Our current listening center can barely be called that. None of the headphones work. When students listen to the stories they have to have the volume turned up loud enough for them to hear, but not so loud that it distracts other students. Many times they need help adjusting the volume and I have to stop working with the students I have with me to get this figured out. A new listening center could change this completely. It would allow them to use this center completely on their own like they should be able to. I would not have to stop working with students in order to get the center working again. Currently if our listening center doesn't work I just have students look at the pictures of the book and do their best to read it. However,this defeats the whole purpose of this center,which is for them to hear fluent reading.A new listening center would guarantee them the opportunity to do this and would help them become fluent reader

A new listening center would be an amazing gift for my students.

They would be guaranteed to have an opportunity to hear fluent reading on a regular basis, like they should be able to with this center.It would also help increase their fluency which will help them become better readers. They would get to enjoy the center they love without having to worry if it will in fact work that day.
