My Project

The darkness of Covid-19 has interrupted learning for many students in our nation's schools. And, the young lives at our Title 1 school in southwestern Arizona are no exception. While many recent newspaper and research articles point out discrepancies in K-2 readers, at my site there is a growing need for additional reading intervention groups in grades 3 through 5. This need has become increasingly apparent as we conduct and analyze reading records for students in our upper elementary classrooms.

A great divide exists between children who can and those who cannot read.

This project will fund materials for students working in small, focused reading and writing groups. The materials requested will go directly to classrooms to be used by students and their instructors to support academic learning. The portable pocket charts, chart paper, white boards and dry erase markers will help to make student thinking more visible and fun as they learn about the synergistic relationship of reading and writing.
