Help me give my students the opportunity to support flexible seating outside of our classroom. This allows us to group students even in this year of challenging restrictions on our physical space.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
We are back in person this year and we are working on navigating the space we have in our classroom. To continue to deliver differentiated instruction, we are trying to "think outside of the box." The classroom "box," that is.
Seventh graders love working in groups!
In our social studies classroom, we have students who take the lead in teaching/supporting others, students who work best when they can bounce ideas off of one another, and students who work best when closest to one of their teachers.
My Project
These seats will allow our students to work more comfortably in the hallways outside of our classroom. Students in our classrooms can best learn when faced with instruction that matches their readiness. This way the hallways become an extension for learning. We as teachers will be able to fully differentiate our lessons to allow us to meet the needs of all of the different students we work with by grouping and working with students outside of the classroom. These floor seats are comfortable and will show our students that we care about their physical comfort as well as their academic growth.
