This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My kindergarten through fifth grade school currently serves over four hundred students who reflect the demographics of the surrounding region. Children who develop typically, children with special needs and children who are gifted learn side-by-side in the same classroom. We are always striving to design our lessons so that all students are able to access the curriculum and be engaged in every class activity.
We have a beautiful model that allows all types of students to learn through creative PBL projects.
My Project
Students at this PBL school are encouraged to complete their work in a place that best suits their learning style. Having trays where students are able to sit on the carpet and work will give another option of space for the students to work.
Research shows that students learn in different and creative ways.
In my previous class, I had such trays that were used for flexible seating. Those seats were used often, used appropriately, and helped students succeed. Students love working on the floor but their backs suffer from "rolling down" to write on their paper. These trays will "save" their backs!
