My Project
Floor scooters in PE class have been around forever (just remember back to your own elementary school days)- and for good reason! They are a piece of equipment which is accessible and exciting to kids from Pre-K to 5th grade, providing a great full-body workout. They can be utilized individually or for team sports or games. They are also known to be an especially effective and accessible piece of exercise equipment for students with a variety of disabilities, such as autism and ADHD.
In my physical education classes, we'd use them to develop balance, coordination, and muscular exercise and endurance.
They'd be great for a wide range of activities from relay races to team-building challenges. Oh and did I mention Scooter City? This is a student-made model of NYC the kids will create where we learn to be safe and considerate scooter drivers while learning the signs, symbols and rules of the road.
Then there's scooter hockey, scooter soccer, scooter tag, scooter obstacle courses, scooter Olympics, scooter swimming-- ok, not that last one, but you get the deal. Take any sport and add scooters and it adds an exciting and new variation to an existing sport. Having a full class set of scooters allows every student to be active and engaged in my class. This is truly a piece of equipment that will benefit every student in the whole school. Plus, with proper care (which I will ensure), these scooters should last for many years.
I could go on and on about the amazing uses and benefits of floor scooters, but I only get 300 words so let me just finish my pitch with that one simple rhyme which I'm sure you'll have in your head for days: Scooters rule, help us get them for our school!
