This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are in grades nine through twelve, plus additional years of vocational-transition (ages 15-21). We are a small, public school tucked away in the beautiful mountains. We are avid outdoor adventurers, and our lessons are geared towards Community-Based Vocational Instruction (CBVI).

My Project

My students are housed in a program that is considered the most restricted due to their emotional, behavioral and academic needs.

Kayaking is a low-impact activity that can improve your mental and aerobic fitness.

We are located in a small mountain town and take advantage of our beautiful outdoors.

We would kayak in a safe, enclosed lake with no waves, and a beautiful view.

The fact that it is a kayak for two will help with our students that need that one-to-one supervision.

We would practice social and recreational skills in weekly community based outings.
