My students need supplies such as colored cardstock and markers, to incorporate Art into Mathematics because electives are no longer available in our middle school!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Think back to middle school, what was your favorite part of the day? For me it was art class! This is no longer offered to students of ALL Middle School. sAs teachers, we are making it part of the core curriculum.
My students are energetic, loving, hardworking students like most middle school students.
They come from many different backgrounds and most qualify for free or reduced lunch. Some students are not exposed to art and the materials needed to be creative at home.
My Project
My students need supplies such as colored cardstock and markers, to incorporate Art into Mathematics because electives are no longer available in our middle school!
The materials I am requesting will allow my students to take the math they are learning and incorporate it with the creativity I know they possess. They will be able to learn the basic principles of color and art techniques while extending their knowledge of the mathematics standards by creating a story book. Each story book will focus on a different type of mathematics that they can then share with students in other classes.
My students need the opportunity to be creative while learning.
Creativity is a much needed trait to be successful at many jobs. By incorporating art with mathematics, we are helping our students to be more prepared for the working environment!
Please help bring art back into the classroom.
