Help my DECA students build pride, raise funds, and change the narrative about our school through entrepreneurship and community engagement—with the power of a Blackstone griddle!
Project Essay:
As a DECA advisor at a Title I school, I’ve seen the untapped brilliance in students who face economic challenges but possess powerful ideas, work ethic, and leadership potential. Our school is often misunderstood and stigmatized as "low performing" or "underprivileged." This project is designed to flip that narrative—literally and figuratively.
We are requesting a Blackstone griddle to support our DECA students in launching a school-based food pop-up initiative. Through this project, students will gain hands-on experience in entrepreneurship, financial literacy, marketing, and operations—all while raising funds for DECA competitions and projects.
But this goes beyond fundraising.
The sizzling aroma of fresh-cooked food draws students and staff together. Our DECA students will host spirit day breakfast pop-ups, tailgate events before games, and teacher appreciation lunches. These events will:
Build positive school climate
Unify students and staff
Celebrate culture through food
Showcase student leadership
We believe this griddle will become a tool of transformation—a centerpiece for student-led engagement, innovation, and pride.
