My Project
At our Title I middle school, our cheerleaders work hard every day to represent our school with pride, positivity, and perseverance, despite having limited resources. We currently practice on hard floors with no mats, which makes it not only difficult but unsafe to properly learn or perform stunts, jumps, and tumbling skills. Tumbling mats would allow us to teach safe techniques, reduce injury risk, and help our athletes grow in confidence and ability.
Cheerleading is more than just chants and routines, it's a place where our students learn teamwork, discipline, leadership, and school spirit.
These tumbling mats will give them the opportunity to safely practice skills like cartwheels, walkovers, round-offs, and more advanced techniques that they can’t currently do due to safety concerns.
My cheerleaders are resilient, driven, and full of heart. They show up after school, often tired from a full day of learning, and still bring energy and commitment to every practice. Many of them come from challenging circumstances, but cheerleading gives them something positive to belong to and be proud of. They support one another like family, and that’s exactly what we are.
Each tumbling mat will allow us to create a safer, more structured environment. Instead of limiting our practices to simple motions on hard surfaces, we’ll be able to condition properly, practice tumbling techniques, and build the confidence necessary for routines that we perform at games and community events. These mats will not only improve our practices, but they’ll also elevate our athletes.
