There's nothing more exciting than children taking technology in their own hands! My students are excited to use Flip cameras to create fun, interesting, fact-filled videos to upload to our web pages!
We are a Pre-K to Grade 5 School in New York.
I teach many classes, but for this project I would like to focus on one particular 5th grade class. This class is a collaborative team teaching model. There is one general Education teacher and one special education teacher in a classroom that includes students w/special needs. 40% of this class contains children with some learning disabilities.
My Project
The Flip Video Camera is light weight, durable, and so simple to use. We plan on using these cameras to create a variety of video projects over the next year. To name a few: interviews of community members, video our service projects, tape students who are learning English (ESL) and have them subtitle the video in their native language, tape speeches, video field trips, history projects, digital story telling, and science fair projects to name a few.
We would like to use this Web 2.0 tool to engage our students. Our students can make a difference in the world by participating in real-life, real-world service learning projects. You're never too young, or too old, to make your voice heard and create change that makes the world a better place.
Our students are digital "natives" using technology is "how" our kids learn today.
Information is available at their fingertips! We want to create some of our own relevant & Current video content! Won't you help us?
