My Students
My students are different this year than past years. They have been kept at home and not used to school, routines, and learning, as a result they also have little foundational knowledge to build upon. However, they are all eager to learn and enjoy learning, they learn best through hands on experiences. Some of my students are English Language Learners and benefit greatly from this hands approach. They are eager to help each other be it in learning, cleaning, or lending a needed tool.
My Project
My scholars need to have a very strong foundation in phonics in order to be prepared for first grade and beyond. The Word Family Flip Books and the Phonics Flip Books will help my scholars learn their letters and the corresponding sounds as well as rhyming through word families. This will help them be able to have a better understanding of phonics through the use of rhyming word families with these fun and interactive flip books. Funding this project will help prepare my scholars for college because preparation for college begins in kindergarten.
