My students need a FLIP Camera to be able to shoot school projects and happenings.
FULLY FUNDED! Ms. Levine's classroom raised $349

My Students
If you have ever seen your work on a big screen, then you know how exciting it would be for a student to create a project using video and have it uploaded to Schooltube.com for all of the world to see! Our students are flipping for a flip camera so they can make intelligent, meaningful projects.
My school is high needs Title I Public School with 80% free and reduced lunch.
The students do not have much opportunity to create technology related projects at home due to the fact that most of the students and their families lack cameras/video cameras.
I have been encouraging the students to take a look at the work that other students across the globe have done. So, they have spent the first semester reviewing student video projects online. They have watched kids pose as wacky scientists, seen classes singing content area songs, enjoyed green screen chroma key projects where the kids in the video were transposed into a different time period to tell the story of of an historical figure, and thoroughly enjoyed watching stop motion animation projects.
My students want to create various video projects that they can share with an authentic audience similar to the samples they saw online. All of the projects the students want to create involve the use of a video camera. Please help us.
My Project
The FLIP camera requires no training or prior knowledge of video equipment. With the simple point and click technology, a student will be able to capture anything, anywhere in the school, anytime the camera is placed in his hand. This is very empowering to a student.
With the technology portion "being handled" by a point and click device the students will be inspired to create their best work, knowing that it will be posted to the web for all the world to see! Instead of a student filling out a worksheet about planets, the student will now be able to dress up as a scientist and TELL us about the planets "from space" (with green screen technology), sing about the planets, create an animation about the planets, a news story about the planets...etc. You get the idea right?
The students will take turns with the camera when doing projects. It has a USB connection so importing the video on a computer is simple and with our Schooltube channel, they already have a place to post their work.
Research shows that learning is done best by teaching.
That's right...research shows that when someone teaches something, that's when the learning really takes place. Using the video projects, students will be able to reach deep inside their brains to demonstrate how much they know. Another way of looking at it is the students will be inspired to learn more deeply because they will want to impress their audience. Kids "flip" when they think their work will be seen by a real audience. Thanks!
