FLIP Video Cameras Will Help Us Learn & Gain Tech Experience
My students need (2) FLIP Video cameras to provide hands-on experience in creating peer tutorial videos, multimedia presentations and enhanced publishing projects.
"Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. INVOLVE ME AND I LEARN." [Benjamin Franklin]
By emphasizing Student involvement, they will gain critical experience in in utilizing new technology to accomplish their academic goals. C2i (Challenge to Innovate) is an essential start of STEM education.
Our Pre-K - 3rd Grade students are encouraged to think critically and explore through a hands-on, process–based curriculum.
Our commitment to differentiated instruction supports Students of all ability levels in every classroom by integrating:
● English Language Learners (ELL students) ●
● English as a Second Language (ESL students) ●
● Students with Special Needs ●
● General Education students ●
Our community is quite international with almost 70% of our students coming from homes where English is spoken as a second language. One-fifth of our students receive extra support for learning English. We also provide communication materials to parents in 4 languages (English, Chinese, Spanish & Korean).
We are a Title I, New York City Public School, where nearly 60% of Students qualify for free / reduced lunch.
Collaborative projects like this are valuable for team-building and fostering a more integrated, learning community.
My Project
Our 3rd Grade Students face critical challenges during this transitional year in their early education. Academic expectations have increased and projects aim to help them learn how to tie together their learning from all discipline areas.
(2) FLIP Video Cameras would greatly help our Students in several areas:
1) TECHNOLOGY: Valuable hands-on experience in using simplified, video technology and incorporating the power of this tool with their existing Technology skills (i.e. iMovie, PowerPoint).
2) SHARED LEARNING: Students will record their own teaching sessions to explain concepts and review learning. These tutorial videos will then be shared with other students to assist them too. Peer teaching will benefit all Students: building confidence, independence and reinforcing key skills.
3) PUBLISHING & PRESENTATION SKILLS: Students will be able to publish their writing assignments in unique ways and to create multimedia presentations for many projects during the year.
We will inspire, educate and empower our Third Grade Students through HANDS-ON, MULTIMEDIA LEARNING with (2) FLIP Video Cameras.
They will maximize the opportunities to use these video cameras in group and individual assignments throughout the school year.
With your support, we look forward to using these Flip cams all year - from the Open House presentation for prospective parents all the way through their 3rd Grade Graduation project. THANKS!
