My Students
"Where there is love there is life." - Mahatma Gandhi Students and I will record their educational experiences so that they can see through the recording from the flip camera that they not only receive education but an abundance of love from their fellow classmates and me.
My students live in a low income and gang infested neighborhood.
There are limited resources for food, clothing, and services. The demographics are Latino, African American, Filipino, Asian, and mixed ethnicities.
My students are going through many emotional, spiritual, physical, and mental situations that usually affects their learning and growth. They need hope and discover that their is hope in each one of them but they need to be conscious of it. They need to embrace and love their selves. My students are intelligent, loving, versatile and innocent but because they have problems within their personal lives they close up, are in pain, are sad, and are growing up too fast.
My school has dedicated and quality teachers who work long hours to provide well comprehensive and relevant education and an active parent and community involvement.
My Project
As a student, you don't see your journey from the beginning to the end of the school year. My objective is to capture their journey so that they can see how they have grown from the beginning to the end.
We will use the flip camera to record our learning, physical, emotional, and spiritual experience in our classroom, events, and field trips. If the students can visualize their experience then they can see how they have grown from the beginning of the year. My students will take turns using the flip camera to record their learning process. They will learn how to use technology to record things and use their creativity and artistic abilities. They will also know how to compile and edit the footage with my help so that they can learning editing skills. They will learn a beginning course of making a documentary of their educational experience.
At the end they will see the bigger picture of their journey and discover their destination.
When we place a camera in students' hands then we can enter the lens of their lives and see their journey through their eyes.
In order to change the world, especially transform students into being better people we need to provide them resources such as the flip camera so that they can capture their journey and see how they did transform for the better.
