My Students

"Strength lies in differences, not in similarities". This quote describes the students in my class who come from many different cultures, backgrounds, and places. Many of these students are new to the country and need alternative technology to help them better understand the curriculum and the English language.

The 25 students who will be using these materials are enthusiastic about learning!

When you walk into the class you are greeted with smiles, chatter, and happiness. They enjoy hands-on learning and being proud of what they have accomplished.

My Project

Flexible seating has become a new trend within the education world. This style of seating in my classroom has given students the ability to sit comfortably within the classroom. Sitting comfortably, and being able to move around, keeps a child more focused on their academics and learning, rather than focusing on trying to sit still at their assigned desk.

Individualization plays a large role in my classroom environment.

Flexible seating has helped my students to embrace their individuality and abilities. These added items will continue to show my students how others may learn differently than us, but that every child has the ability to learn and they will do so in their own way. It will also help to eliminate some unnecessary furniture to make the room more inviting for students. The stools will be used to turn cubbies into a technology area. The bean bags will be used as a quiet sitting area to read and relax.

This seating will continue to promote students to be themselves and not "one size fits all". We need to be "flexible" on accepting others for who they are, as well as accepting ourselves and embracing our own individuality.
