Help me give my students comfortable seating so they will be more engaged in their work. Flex seating is a variety of seating from yoga balls to bean bags, and anything outside of a standard desk chair.
My class of 20 curious second grade boys will be transforming into pro surfers all the way from South Carolina. This is a great fit for our class because it fits their character. These boys may get knocked down but they are never afraid to get back up and try again. They are the most determined students to get it right.
These students can light up any room, they have contagious smiles, warm hugs, and thoughtful minds.
They make the most out of every situation no matter how big or small. They push through obstacles that they never thought they could overcome. These wonderful gentlemen take in each moment we provide them.
These students are going to change the world and I cannot wait to help them get there! Lets surf into second grade together!
My Project
Flex seating is becoming very popular in classrooms for all ages in all schools. Flex seating allows students to have alternative seating to the standard desk chair. This type of seating allows student to be comfortable and potentially more engaged and focused on the lesson being taught. That is my goal, to have my student comfortable, engaged, and excited!
Flex seating allows those students that have the wiggles to be less disruptive to their peers and more engaged in their work.
It is a win- win for everybody! These seating options allow students to take charge in their own learning by picking a seat such as a yoga ball or bean bag to help them concentrate.
I am working towards a goal to have an alternative seating option for every student. That way every student has the choice to sit in a standard chair or change it up with something more comfortable to them. I will allow students to pick their seat each day with expectations in line. This will allow for a sense of independence in my classroom along with trust. I simply love the idea of flex seating and I know my students will love it just as much. Every student has a different need, that is why I have picked a few different seating options for this project! My school moto is "Every student, every day" and this project is just that!
