I teach 5th grade in a classroom with 27 energetic students who are very excited and eager to learn. My students have a wide variety of socioeconomic status and diverse ethnic backgrounds. Our school is a Title I school with a large number of students coming from low-income homes and at risk populations. The majority of my classroom receives Free or Reduced-Rate lunches and all students receive free breakfast. While I may not be able to control their home life, I can guarantee when my students come to school, they will feel safe, welcomed and loved within my classroom.
My Project
As an educator it is my responsibility to do what I can to reach all learning styles within my classroom environment. With support from this donation my students will have a flexible spot every day to learn where they feel most productive. Our classroom is inside a small portable with limited workspace; this project will allow my students to work on the ground with a sturdy portable lap desk to hold Chromebooks, papers or books. My students also enjoy working outside when the weather is nice; these lightweight workspaces will allow us to take the classroom anywhere and still be able to comfortably work.
