Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Each child in my classroom absolutely loves learning! We are full in-person instruction during the pandemic and although we have to wear face coverings for our safety, each student comes to class filled with joy and perseverance! My classroom consists of students with different learning accommodations/support. The method and environment in which they learn best vary greatly.
I incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met!
They are truly an incredible group, and I am so lucky and thankful to have such a great group of learners that are excited and ready to learn each day! Our school is a free public school, and the majority of our students come from low socioeconomic status. In addition, we are a Title I School which means that we provide free meal plans to support our families' needs. My students are determined and spontaneous! They come to class ready to learn with enthusiasm and ready to take upon academic challenges.
My Project
My students come to school with different skills and abilities. I am currently teaching students with Individualized Educational Plans, English Language Development, Spanish Speakers, and students who need more movements to help them get the jitters out. As we returned from distance learning, I noticed students need more movement incorporated into our classroom environment!
This project will support our classroom by allowing students the flexibility to move around in one of these comfortable and safe wobble chairs as movement is vital for their learning style.
Compared to our traditional hard wood chairs, the wobble chairs allow students to move around if or when needed. I noticed that students need more comfortable and flexible chairs, and these wobble chairs will be perfect to support body movements. In addition, these wobble chairs will also be used to support our small group instruction. Daily I create small groups based on students' skills and levels, and my goal is to support students who need more help by teaching in smaller settings. I also have small groups to challenge those students who need more rigorous lessons to apply their learning.
