My Students

My students come to school because every day is a day to become a better person.

My students are 4, 5 and 6-year-olds who are very eager to learn.

Most of them come from low income families with only one parent who is struggling to hold the family together. They struggle academically, have emotional and social challenges, and many suffer from family issues that are out of their control. They live in a neighborhood where two-thirds of family household income is below the federal poverty threshold and resources are not available for them.

My Project

My students love it when I let them be the decision makers. Having a flexible seating classroom will allow my students to have that independency of making their own choices as well as building their problem solving skills. The wobble chairs and bouncy seats will help those students who just can't help moving while working. These choices will help them stay focused and get their work done while still being able to move a little. The bean bag seats and the fold up floor chairs will give those students who can sit still an opportunity to sit in comfort while completing their work. Flexible seating will also give more room in the classroom for the students to move around.
