My Students
My students range from ELD (English is a second language) to High Achieving (GATE). My school is in a very diverse part of Los Angeles where students come from a variety of cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
My students love to learn and want to been seen as the leaders among the other students at our school.
They love to use math tools, create their own stories and share their learning with others. My goal is to get them reading, writing and actively learning every day. I have only been in the classroom with my students for a week now and they love reading core literature. I am trying to teach them to challenge themselves and accept others for who they are. I want to be able to bring in a diverse range of novels to study this year and push my students to believe in not only themselves but our future.
My Project
In my classroom, I have a lot of students and sometimes the students like to sit in other places besides their desks. They like to sit on the floor, on a yoga ball or even on a rolling chair, this would give them the opportunity to sit in a comfortable space that allows them to move freely around the room but gives them the ability to remain seated. The other element of flexible seating is having something to write on, so having access to a clipboard for every student would make this element possible.
Students love to move and remain active daily giving them the opportunity to have flexible seating will activate their brains and allow them to access a different way of learning.
