This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My amazing students are learning English and learning how to read. Rug squares, wiggle cushions and stools will allow my students to spread around the room with flexible seating. This will create a more comfortable environment so students can focus on sounding out the words in their books. The stools will also be used for small reading groups at the kidney table to help assist students to learn how to read independently.
The goal is for my students to have their own flexible space to practice reading.
My students are spectacular. In small groups they are learning to use their reading strategies to become more independent. Students who are learning English have come so far this year. The students are using "stretchy snake" to sound out consonants, vowels, consonant words and use their "eagle eyes" to check the pictures to see if it makes sense. My students are super readers and flexible seating will help support their growth.
