My Project
I teach an amazing group of second graders in a historic school in Provo, Utah. Many of my students are just beginning their journey as readers, and several are learning English as a second language. They come to school each day full of curiosity and enthusiasm, eager to explore new ideas and grow as learners.
One of the biggest challenges my students face is staying engaged and focused during learning activities.
Traditional desks and chairs don’t always meet their needs—some students need to move to stay engaged, while others need a comfortable, quiet space to concentrate. That’s why I am requesting these flexible seating options. I want to allow my students to choose seating that helps them feel comfortable and ready to learn.
Flexible seating will make a huge difference in my classroom by:
• Supporting students with different learning needs, including those who benefit from movement.
• Encouraging collaboration by creating spaces for small-group learning.
• Giving students a sense of ownership over their learning environment.
• Making our classroom a welcoming, student-centered space.
My goal is to create an environment where every child can focus, feel confident, and develop a love of learning. My students are resilient, hardworking, and eager to succeed. Many of them face challenges outside of school, but in our classroom, I want them to feel empowered and capable. With flexible seating, they will have the tools they need to be successful, engaged, and excited about learning every day.
Thank you for helping me create a classroom that meets the needs of all my students!
