My Students
Our students are in a Title I school, which means many of them to come from a low SES background. 72% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. My students are eager to learn and very bright. They have a lot of energy and I want to provide them with the accommodations that will support them in being successful in school.
Throughout the past few years our students and community have been adjusting to the hardships and changes that CoVid-19 has thrown at us.
CoVid-19 has caused a lot of loss in learning and low percentage of engagement that is negatively impacting their education.
My Project
Flexible seating will allow my active fourth graders to bounce and rock which will help them burn excess energy, increase oxygen to the brain, and core strength. This will in turn, help them stay alert and focus more intently which will help with their learning.
Flexible seating helps students feel more in control of their environment and self-advocate by giving them the opportunity to move as needed without interrupting other students.
Lastly, flexible seating will help my students develop their social skills as it will make it easier for them to fair up and work in groups.
